Ecobrick River Cleanups with the Santa Fe Watershed Association – 2015 to Present

In 2015 we adopted for stewardship a stretch of the Santa Fe River, recognized as one of the most endangered rivers in the United States. The Santa Fe Watershed Association “works to return the Santa Fe River to a living river, from the headwaters in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains to the Rio Grande, balancing human uses with natural resource protection within the Santa Fe River watershed.” We are excited to be helping with regular cleanups throughout the summer and fall, and instead of sending more trash to the landfill, ecobricking it instead to create building materials. Our hope is to begin construction on a bench or installation at some point this year, utilizing the contained and compressed plastic waste that we find in our stretch of the river, located across from the Inn of the Governors.
